Story
Fundraising for Our Friend Craig Maxwell
In support of the Maxwell Family Genomics Fund
Craig Maxwell is a close friend, husband and father who was diagnosed over two years ago with stage 4 incurable cancer. Since his diagnosis, Craig has shown extraordinary resilience, positivity and determination—not only in how he has faced his illness, but in how he has chosen to help others in the same fight.
Craig has been at the heart of every challenge, raising over £1.5 million to date through the Maxwell Foundation, helping to fund vital cancer research and support initiatives. From cycling from Cardiff to Paris, walking the full coastline of Wales, and rowing from Tenby to Cardiff, Craig has led from the front—setting an incredible example for his children and for countless others affected by cancer.
In 2026, we are taking on a new set of challenges to continue raising funds for Craig and for the work of the Maxwell Family Genomics Fund, which focuses on supporting cutting-edge genomics-led cancer research, helping to improve understanding, treatment options and outcomes for patients now and in the future.
Our challenges include:
The Seville to Malaga Velindre Cycle Challenge (May 2026)
Ironman Tours, France (June 2026)
For those unfamiliar, a full Ironman is one of the toughest one-day endurance events in the world, consisting of:
A 2.4-mile swim
A 112-mile bike ride
A full 26.2-mile marathon
—completed consecutively, in a single day.
Every mile, stroke and step is undertaken to support Craig and to help fund the vital work of the Maxwell Family Genomics Fund, which aims to accelerate progress in personalised and precision cancer care.
We are hugely grateful for any support you can give—whether through donating, sharing this page, attending fundraising events, or simply wishing us luck as training intensifies.
Thank you for standing with Craig and helping us make a meaningful difference.
