Story
In April of 2022 I found out that my stepfather (Grandpa Ron) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. I don't get to be there very much since he lives in the States, and I live in England. Every single visit, phone call, letter and email becomes precious and emotional. Sometimes I am left feeling helpless because I can't there to see him or support my family.
I cannot change this situation, but I want to do something. By raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK, I feel that I am giving crucial help to benefit future generations. There WILL be better treatments in the future, but the work is happening right now.
So I am going to do what I do best: go long. I've done the Ironman UK a few times now so I needed something different.
I am going to do a triathlon of my own making... On July 15th, 2023 (weather depending), I am going to swim Lake Ullswater, cycle Land's End to John O'Groats, and run Hadrian's Wall; all hopefully within 14 days. I'm not sure of the exact mileage but I won't get much change from 1,200 miles. I'm funding this entirely myself: my car, my wetsuit, my bike, and my shoes.
I am most humbly grateful for any and all donations to Alzheimer's Research UK. This is a great charity that is doing very important work and I am honoured to be helping them. Thank you for your support!
