British-Ukrainian Aid supports people in any part of the world who are the victims of war or natural disaster, trouble, or catastrophe in particular by the supply of medical aid to such persons and organisations caring for them.

Story

The Ukrainian team "IRON WARRIORS", which brings together soldiers with amputations and lightly wounded soldiers, will participate in the march to raise funds to purchase components for sports prostheses for their comrades. This will give them the opportunity to return to society faster and easier and continue their active lives.

Since the Ukrainian team consists mostly of active-duty military personnel, whose information is prohibited from being disclosed, we present only their captain - Vadym Svyrydenko - a military paramedic, sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a participant in the russian-Ukrainian war, advisor to the President's Commissioner for the Rehabilitation of War Participants, a person with 4 prostheses.

In one of the battles near Debaltseve, Vadym Svyrydenko was wounded, getting into the blast zone of a tank shell. At minus 20 degrees Celsius, he hid for three days without food; three comrades, wounded, froze to death. On January 19, he fell into captivity of the "DNR" - the terrorists had previously fired on the disabled equipment, in Donetsk he was provided with first aid. He was handed over to the Ukrainian side with fourth level of frostbite, sepsis. As a result of the operation, he lost his hands and feet. He learned to walk on prostheses and use artificial hands, which were made for him in the USA. After 8 months of treatment in the USA, he stayed in the Lviv Military Hospital for rehabilitation, fully mastered himself, and now can run and lift weights.

Participation in the march (for 35 km - for participants with prostheses, for 85 km - for lightly wounded) tests not only the physical endurance and resilience of the participants but also serves as evidence of the indomitability of the spirit and willpower of Ukrainian soldiers. Their example inspires and encourages supporting and helping wounded soldiers and veterans in their daily struggle. The ABF Cateran Yomp marathon is an opportunity to demonstrate the life position and solidarity of Ukrainian soldiers. Their goal is not victory on the distance, but helping their comrades preserve and restore their physical and moral health

The participation of the Ukrainian team in the march is facilitated by the charitable foundation "KOLO" - www.kolo.fund
