I am raising funds for the Prayer Book Society and St. Mary the Virgin Church Salford. All funds raised through this event will be split 50/50 between these two charities.
At 9am on Saturday 16th November 2024 members of St. Mary the Virgin Salford will begin to read the entirety of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer in one sitting.
It is unknown whether this has ever been done before or if this will be a world first!
Every Sunday at 9am we hold a church service according to the Book of Common Prayer. Our church building is in need of repairs - not least a new roof! 50% of the funds raised will support this essential building work. The other 50% raised will go directly to the Prayer Book Society to support their great work of campaigning for the wider use of the Book of Common Prayer.
