I have chosen to fundraise for the Royal Orthopaedic Charity, based at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, a place that has played a big part in my life over the past few years.

During this time, I have undergone three major operations there, including a Triple Pelvic Osteotomy. Facing complex surgeries and long periods of rehabilitation can be incredibly daunting, but throughout this I have been surrounded by amazing staff that have provided fantastic care and support.

It’s not just the medical expertise that makes the hospital so special—it’s the people. From the cleaner who brought me a teddy bear and a card to celebrate my GCSE results and who checked in on me every day during my stay, to the Transition to Adult Services team who made each hospital visit easier and helped me feel more in control of my decisions. My surgeon, Mr Bache, not only performed incredible surgery but also took the time to ease my fears and help me feel as calm as possible (which was not an easy job!!). And also the hydrotherapy physios, who supported me through those very first steps of recovery, played a huge part in helping me get to where I am today.

Now, I’m incredibly proud to be in a position where I can train for a half marathon—something that once felt unimaginable. I’m aiming to complete it in under two hours. Running has always been my passion, and it’s something I’ve never wanted to give up.

This will be the longest distance I’ve ever run, making it a huge personal milestone. But more importantly, it’s my way of giving back and recognising the incredible people who have supported me throughout my journey.
