I am going to Uganda in July/August 2024 to build a playground for vulnerable children! If you could donate towards the cost of going to Uganda it would be appreciated by both the children and me.

When deciding to volunteer there are so many different organisations to go through. I decided on Project Play because of my interest in sustainable development in Africa. I am enthusiastic about education and social mobility therefore, giving children the opportunity to develop intrinsic skills such as communication, creativity etc is so important.

In the UK, we often take for granted the skills developed by play and exploration as it is an essential part of childhood. In 2015, Playground Ideas found that play made a child X7 more employable consequently, the work that I will be doing this summer will have a lasting impact on hundreds of children who use the playground in the future. Not only does the playground benefit the children using it but the apprenticeship scheme for the Ugandan team on-site allows local job creation and skills development. In summary, by building this playground, I can contribute to better career prospects for children, happier children, and job creation.

As a result of playgrounds being built, schools report that:

- 98% report an increase in attendance in school.

- 74% of children gave 'The Playground' as a reason to attend school.

- 83% of teachers reported improvements in children's attention and behaviour in classes.
