Story

As you might be aware I have been off work since September 2024 due to multiple challenging factors which lead me suffering from high anxiety and depression.

At my lowest point I was lucky enough to be introduced to the Moray Quarriers team in Elgin as I am an unpaid carer for one closed young member of my family.

Quarriers team is so welcoming, kind, nurturing and helpful. I am getting better mentally and physically every day because of their support. Quarriers make individual plan for each family case scenario to see what you will benefit from. They provide me with different types of mindfulness sessions so I could start to live unvaluable breaks for my 'ME TIME' (sound bowl therapy, massage, laughter yoga, drum fit, ...) they facilitate the meeting between people who are facing similar difficulties as unpaid carer (eg: parent's autism coffee morning group...). Every little help assist me in my recovery and alleviate my symptoms, I am mentally calmer, more confident, happier and feel less isolated.

From the bottom of my heart thanks Quarriers!

I decided to give back in my own way the help I received by asking donation in aid of Quarriers. As you know I am always energetic (aka: 'lithium battery') and ready for a challenge. So here it is, as I am approaching my 50 I am going to participate to the Grantown on Spey try-tri also called 'a fun triathlon'. It is held in the picturesque capital of Strathspey set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It consists of 300m swimming (15 lengths of a 20m pool), follow by cycling 16kms (10 miles) circuit round the Grantown Braes and finally 5kms running through the Anagach Woods. If this is not a challenge for a 50-year-old me who has a 'bad' knee!

To be fair I have done this try-tri back in 2023 and finished it in 1h36min08s. Here are some info from that year: overall place: 116, number:18, Isabelle Barclay, Timing 01:36:08, category: Vet 18F, category position:67, swimming in 13min32s, cycling in 54min11s and running in 25min39s.

However, you know me it is never enough especially when it comes to me asking donation from people so I am adding an extra layer of complication. I am going to decrease my previous timing and make a PB this year! I am training hard and I am determined. Let's do it in aid of Quarriers!
