Story
I started running shortly after we lost my little sister Lili last year and I had spent a lot of time since thinking about how I’d like to do something in memory of her. So I guessed the next logical step (😂) would be to run the London Marathon! I’ve been lucky enough to be offered a place in Team Havens for the London Marathon 2026, and whilst this one for me is very much in Lili’s honour, it also felt very important to raise money for the hospice that she used throughout her life.
I have such fond memories of Little Havens being like a second home to my sisters and I and we spent many happy weekends swimming and playing in the ball pool together when we were little. Lili always found it particularly funny when the nurses were wearing glasses or dropping things for her amusement!
Nothing could have prepared us for losing our lovely Lili but we knew as a family that at such a difficult time, Little Havens was the only place that we would have wanted her to be. She received the most wonderful care - we’ll never forget the nurses holding her hand through the night so we could have a couple of hours of rest and she was completely surrounded by love the whole time we were there. She passed peacefully, and as a family we truly will be forever indebted to the nurses and HCA’s for the care they provided to Lili and to us after.
The respite and end of life care both hospices provide is completely free of charge. To do this, the hospice must raise £207,000 per week. They rely heavily on donations and don’t receive much in the way of government funding, whilst providing an invaluable service to the families.
I really appreciate your support in helping me to raise as much money as possible, so that other families can benefit like we have from this incredible hospice. 🤍
