Charity Football Match · 11 June 2023

We are Team 1C. A group of parents and carers of children with CHD, based in the North West of England. As a collective we are helping to save lives, one tiny heart at a time. #team1c '#whatwedo

Story

so some are aware but in October 2022 my best friend unfortunately lost his 6 year old daughter due to a heart condition

Dave and I have been friends for several years and have played football together so I thought of the idea of holding a charity football match to raise money for the charity in which supports families in hard times where necessary

The game will consist of Dave’s friends and the supporters of a team who have supported Dave and Isla who we have followed home and away

Below I have a write up of what the charity do

Team 1C is a charity cofounded by Claire Cathcart and David Hutton. Both Claire and David have first hand experience of long hospital stays due to their children’s cardiac condition. Team 1C provides a network of support for children with cardiac conditions and their families. It started out as a way to say thank you to the surgeon Dr Ram funding and naming the cardiac camps in developing nations after Ward 1C patients who had sadly passed away. Knowing that other children would receive life saving heart surgery in their child’s name helped create legacies for our Team 1C angels and provided comfort for our families. Team 1C are now focused on providing support for cardiac families around the North West and creating lasting legacies for our children. There are many projects currently under way to honour the life of Isla Hutton, including a cardiac camp in India and funding of an EPIC (Early Paediatric Interventional Care) centre with the charity Love The One. In April Team 1C put on a fun day in coordination with the charity Jump! to give cardiac families a truly amazing day which was fully inclusive and allowed all of the children who have been through so much, the chance to forget about hospital admissions and appointments and just be a child. One of our current initiatives is actually pretty simple, Sunday Socials. Team 1C provide dinner for cardiac families staying in hospital and give them an opportunity to chat and have some normality even if it’s just for an hour a week. With lots more in the pipeline, Team 1C are grateful for any help and every penny counts towards helping us support families in the North West dealing with the struggles that come with the cardiac world.
