Bangladesh Flood Emergency

Approximately 3.66 million people have been impacted by devastating floods following heavy monsoon rains across northeastern and southeastern districts of Bangladesh and upstream areas in Tripura, India.

Families have been left stranded, homes have been destroyed, and entire communities are seeking refuge in shelters. Tragically, lives have already been lost, while millions including 1.9 million women and over 1.15 million children now face urgent humanitarian need.

Rivers have risen above danger levels, submerging roads, destroying crops, and cutting off access to food, medicine, and essential supplies. Many families are now living under the open sky after losing everything to the floods.

Markets remain closed, clean water sources have been contaminated, and the risk of disease and hunger increases each day without urgent support.

Relief teams on the ground are providing emergency food, hygiene support, cash assistance, clean water solutions, and reaching stranded families by boat.

A key part of this response is installing flood-resistant hand pumps that provide safe drinking water during and after floods. Flash flooding often contaminates water sources and spreads diseases such as cholera, but these raised pumps help protect communities and can serve hundreds of families each day.
