Isle of Wight Cat Centre - Could you help Malibu?

Could you help Malibu? · 19 July 2024
We have a dear old chap who came into Isle of Wight cat centre at the end of June, his name is Malibu.
He is 11 years old and has lived the majority of his years as an outside boy. It was clear that he had a very sore eye on arrival that was causing him a lot of pain and discomfort, he was squinting a lot and had a lot of discharge coming from the eye.
He was swiftly seen by the vet who confirmed that he had an entropian affecting his eye. An entropian is when the eyelid faces inward, and the eyelashes constantly rub on the eye causing great irritation and pain. He started a course of eye drops but they didn't help him, the only option was to have a procedure to correct the eyelid. We all know how irritating it can be having one eyelash in your eye, let alone a whole set poking in your cornea nonstop.
The only option was to have a small operation to correct the eyelid which he had on the 10th July.
Malibu is recuperating from his operation, and we should make a full recovery soon.
Malibu's operation has cost £500 and we would be grateful for anybody that can help us.
