Story
in April 2026 I’ll be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of Black Country Mental Health.
Mental health is a cause incredibly close to my heart. As a teacher working within the Black Country, I see first-hand the growing pressures faced by both young people and fellow educators. In 2025, around 1 in 5 adults and young people in England experienced common mental health problems — and within education, the strain is even more alarming. According to NASUWT, 84% of teachers experienced work-related stress in the last 12 months, with mental health concerns in the profession continuing to rise.
After loosing a friend, Viren to suicide in Year 13 at Sixth Form, I began supporting and fundraising for local mental health charities back in 2019. Since then, I’ve worked closely with Papyrus, helping raise awareness and over £1,000 to support their life-saving work in suicide prevention.
Now, I’m proud to be fundraising for Black Country Mental Health, a charity offering a wide range of interventions and support measures within The Black Country. Between now and April, I will be working closely with the organisation to support their cause and facilitate more workshops and interventions within local schools in Dudley/Sandwell including Dormston School where I am currently a Secondary PE teacher at.
Thank you so much in advance for any support you can give — no matter how small, your donation will be greatly appreciated.
