Isobel Cutts- Te Araroa

Hiking 3000km on Te Araroa
Hello everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm excited to share that I will be solo hiking the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand.
Spanning over 3,000km (1864 miles) from the northern tip at Cape Reinga to the southern tip at Bluff, the trail should take around 4 months to complete. This journey is not just a personal challenge but a mission to make a difference.
I am hoping to raise £3000 (£1 for every km walked) for Headway - the brain injury association a charity close to my heart that provides vital support and services to those affected by brain injury. Headway offers resources, rehabilitation programs, and advocacy, making a profound impact on the lives of individuals and their families dealing with the aftermath of brain injuries.
About the Te Araroa Trail
The Te Araroa Trail, meaning "The Long Pathway" in Maori, is one of the world's longest hiking trails, offering a diverse range of landscapes and experiences. The route winds its way over high mountain passes, around volcanoes, across sweeping plains, alongside meandering rivers, and through bustling cities and rural towns.Overall elevation gain is approximately 273,285 feet, which is like climbing Mount Everest 9 & 1/2 times!! ( rip my feet )
This trail is not just a walk; it's a journey through the heart and soul of New Zealand, showcasing its beauty and cultural heritage.
Why Headway?
Many years ago my Grandad helped to start up the Headways branch in Sheffield after my uncle sustained a serious life changing brain injury following a car accident in his teens. This altered his life overnight and he had to relearn how to do basic tasks like walking and talking .My Grandparents regularly fundraised and they were passionate about headways charity after seeing first hand how important it is to have that kind of support following a brain injury. They gave incredible support to my Uncle for many years and he continues to be involved in headway events and groups. I know this would mean a lot to my Grandad, I hope I can do him proud and continue what he started!
I am also doing this for my beautiful Mum. My Mum suffered a brain haemorrhage in her twenties, which resulted in her whole left side being paralysed along with partial vision and hearing loss. I am forever in awe of everything she does and genuinely think she is the best mum ever. Her strength and resilience is something I aspire to have. I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for her. Mum I love you more than I could ever express ❤️
