London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need. Join our team and help us be there for every young person who needs us.

Story

We often hear that life is about ordinary moments, but for families facing Cancer, nothing is ordinary. It’s those nights spent waiting for answers, the courage found in whispers and silent tears, and the way hope, somehow, holds everything together.

If you’ve ever watched someone you care about face this kind of battle, you know it redefines bravery, community, and love. Our journey to the London Marathon is for every young person whose world changed with a diagnosis, every parent who stands guard at the bedside, every nurse, every support worker, and every friend who refused to let go. This is for you.

On Sunday 26th April 2026, my incredible friend Melissa Sharp (the person who’ll keep us both sane during the winter months of training) and I will take on the London Marathon. We’re running for Teenage Cancer Trust and for all the young people, nurses, support workers, and family members who face challenges we can only imagine.

For the past 11 years, I’ve been entwined with Teenage Cancer Trust. Initially, it was our chosen charity at work simply because it felt so close to home, relatable, meaningful, and urgent. Alongside passionate friends and colleagues, we’ve raised over £10,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust after meeting their amazing team and seeing firsthand how their work changes lives for people our age. Over the years, this connection has grown more personal and profound. Like many, I’ve seen friends and loved ones receive a cancer diagnosis; watching families walk through the toughest, most frightening times has shown us why support matters more than ever.

Thanks to incredible individuals like Jen Duggan and the young people we’ve met at events, we know what true courage looks like. We’ve seen how the care and support provided by Teenage Cancer Trust can transform not just treatment, but lives none of it possible without funding.

There are currently 28 Teenage Cancer Trust units in the UK, 3 in the North West each a place where young people with cancer can receive specialist care, support, and the chance to connect with others who understand their journey. Every pound raised could provide a safe space to talk, access to specialist nurses, new friendships, or simply a moment of relief that makes all the difference.

Your support can change a life. Even the smallest donation like swapping your morning coffee for a contribution can help provide essential services, hope, and dignity to a young person living with cancer. Every donation matters and goes directly to helping those who need it most; your generosity reaches far beyond us and transforms the toughest moments into something brighter.

Over the next few months, we’ll be holding events, competitions, and yes, even getting a little silly because stepping outside our comfort zone is nothing compared to what these resilient young people, carers, and families experience every single day.
