Story
We are raising money to help people in desperate medical need in Israel. Magen David Adom is the primary charity providing medical emergency support in Israel to those affected.
As you will have all seen in the news, Israel suffered a terrorist attack over the weekend in the order of magnitude and barbarity that is difficult to put into words.
Hundreds upon hundreds of civilians have been mercilessly gunned down, raped and abducted. No one has been spared – babies and children together with their parents, the elderly and disabled, women and men. People have been killed from all religions and nationalities, indiscriminately. The list of those seriously injured is in the thousands, and the situation remains grave.
Having spoken with colleagues and friends, it is clear that the situation is devastating and unprecedented. With a population of c.9 million, this event has affected everyone in Israel profoundly.
Amidst this all, Israel’s only National Blood and Medical Emergency Service (Magen David Adom) has been working tirelessly 24/7, having already treated over 2500 people since this began on Saturday morning – despite drivers and paramedics having already been killed, ambulances having been destroyed, and stations having come under attack. They are a non-governmental organisation that depends on donors and their financial costs have never been higher in order to run 100% of their life-saving vehicles 24/7 to be able to respond at any given minute. Along with employed professionals, they operate with 24,000 volunteers from across Israel, who are risking their lives daily to save the lives of others.
There is a Jewish saying: to save one life is to save the world entire. Hopefully we can do so with your help.
Magen David Adom is Israel’s national medical emergency, disaster, ambulance and blood service. Since 2006 Magen David Adom has been officially recognised by the International Committee of the Red Cross as the national aid society of Israel
Many thanks in advance for your generous support,
