Story
Alessia is a certified Teacher of Education and has been working with children ages 2 through 16 years for over 15 years. She has served the community of Nottingham over the years in different capacities including volunteer work, as a teaching assistant, as a primary and now secondary school teacher. Her passion for languages also fueled her to start The Italian school of Nottingham 3 years ago. The intention of the school is to allow children to not only learn another language, but also create a sense of community in Nottingham and a space where people of different cultures can come together in the uniqueness of their differences. Alessia’s career path and experience has shaped her awareness children and their families and the challenges they often face. The mission of The Italian School of Nottingham is to both create opportunities for a greater community while giving back.
In March, the school along with Dante Alighieri Society Loughborough(DAS) ran Carnavale and was able to raise £300 for charity. This December through The Italian School in collaboration with DAS , we will be running a Christmas Market to raise money for Nottingham Children’s Big Appeal, a charity that supports young patients and their families through hospitalization and trying times.
