Story
On 26 April 2026, I will be taking on the London Marathon. From 1 January 2026, I begin the long months of training that will lead me to the start line.
This marathon is not just a physical challenge for me — it is deeply personal.
I am running to raise funds for two Guernsey charities, Wigwam and Autism Guernsey, who do extraordinary work supporting children and families affected by autism and other neurodivergent conditions. Their work has helped my family directly, and this run is my way of giving something back.
I am a parent of a young son with autism. Like many families on a similar journey, our days are shaped by routines, sensory needs, communication challenges, and moments of unpredictability. Some nights are short, some days are exhausting, and many situations that seem simple to others require careful planning and patience for us. But alongside the challenges are moments of joy, laughter, progress, and pride that are impossible to describe unless you live them.
Support makes all the difference. Charities like Wigwam and Autism Guernsey provide understanding, practical help, advocacy, and safe spaces where children are accepted for who they are — and where parents know they are not alone. They help turn isolation into community, and anxiety into confidence.
Running has always been a way for me to clear my head and stay balanced. Training for a marathon mirrors much of life living with someone with autism: it requires patience, consistency, resilience, and taking one step at a time.
By supporting this fundraising campaign, you are helping local children and families in Guernsey feel understood, supported, and valued.
Any kind of donation or support will be greatly appreciated 🙏🏾
