Story
Hello!
My name is Izzy and I am twenty-two years old and a third year student at Falmouth University. In July 2026 I will be running from Tunbridge Wells to Falmouth over the course of ten days, over four hundred miles!
I am running for the charity, The Survivors Trust, a UK based umbrella charity that provides support and resources to people who have experienced any form of sexual violence.
In 2023, my first year of university, I was sexually assaulted and like many others I was ashamed, confused and didn’t know who to turn to or where to find the help that I needed. This translated into self isolation and missing months of university until I was contacted by a lecturer who I finally opened up to six months after my attack. I was directed to different resources that have helped me reach to where I am today, a third year student about to finish my studies and finding peace beyond my assault.
I am running this distance and finishing four days before I cross the graduation stage, proving my first year self wrong and doing her proud having stayed in university and completing my course. A symbol of hope to myself and, hopefully, others that you can do more than you think despite the hardships in your life.
If you or anyone you know is struggling, the UK rape hotline is 0808 500 2222 and is open 24/7. Reach out.
Thank you for reading my story!
Iz ❤️
