Izzy Runs The London Marathon, 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I would call myself a casual runner who rarely ventures near the 15km mark with a knee that thinks it’s collecting a pension. So far, my marathon ‘journey’ has involved 4:30am runs before work and the high-stakes gamble of testing electrolyte sachets on runs with no toilets in sight. These moments haven’t exactly been bucket-list worthy, but I’m loving the challenge and couldn’t be more excited to run the London Marathon for Breakthrough T1D!
Breakthrough T1D funds groundbreaking international research to support, treat, prevent and cure Type 1 Diabetes. Since COVID-19, diagnoses have surged by 300% from the virus damaging people's pancreas's in their thousands. This has made Breakthrough T1D’s mission more crucial than ever as we seek to understand the causes and effects. My brother was recently diagnosed in 2021 with no family history and no warning, only that the diagnosis followed a week of him experiencing the classic COVID symptoms of having no smell or taste.
I am running this marathon for everyone affected by Type 1 Diabetes so we can beat this disease! Please donate whatever you can—it will genuinely push me through every step of this marathon (which is 42.2km by the way—don’t forget the .2!).
Let’s do this! 🏃♂️💙 Stay tuned for updates..
P.S. My dad ran the London Marathon last year, also raising money for Breakthrough T1D, so in my competitive spirit, please help me raise more money than him, which will hopefully spur me on to run it even faster than him too!!
