On 12th Sept we (four brothers, their 75 year old dad and a French cousin) will be attempting to cycle up Mont Ventoux, one of the toughest and most notorious cycling ascents in the Tour de France circuit, nicknamed the Beast of Provence for good reason.

(*also nicknamed the Bald Mountain which is apt for the eldest member of our group)

The big incentive is to get our dad up to the summit at his tender age which at 75 is no mean feat. His younger, untrained peloton are also doubting their own ability. However, what we lack in physical ability we make up for in bloody-mindedness, over ambition, eternal optimism and fierce sibling rivalry and if they run out…. raising money for Cancer Research hopefully will give us that final push.

For those who didn’t know, us four boys (and cousin), are extremely fortunate to be doing this with our old man after his successful battle with cancer a few years back and Cancer Research undoubtedly played a big part in shaping his treatment and recovery.

Sadly we know that it doesn’t always work out as well so to spend time helping him grind up 6,200 feet of elevation really is a privilege.

So onto the next battle for Mick….. ‘The Bald Man vs The Bald Mountain’… Allez Allez Allez!!!!!
