What I'm doing

I'm running the ASICS Manchester Half-Marathon on the 4th of October 2026. I ran a DIY half-marathon in 2020 but since then the longest I've ran is 8 miles, so this is a challenge!

Who I'm raising money for

I'm raising money for a charity called HostNation (registered charity no. 1180004), who operate in London, Greater Manchester and Tyneside. They carefully match up socially isolated asylum seekers and refugees with volunteer befrienders.

Their aim is to give refugees a positive experience of our cities, a pathway into our culture and an informal space to practise their English.

Overall, HostNation wants to help create happier and more integrated communities in the UK. Regular social events bring clients and volunteers together to share experiences and relax in a safe and welcoming environment, while their communications aim to counteract misinformation about refugee issues and amplify refugee voices.

The economics and politics of 2026 are making life hard for both HostNation and the people they aim to help, so your contributions will be deeply appreciated.
