Tough Mudder Scotland 2024 · 15 June 2024 ·

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This page has been set up to show continued support and acknowledgment for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which is a wonderful organisation that supports children and their families through their toughest moments.

Many people are already familiar with our nephew's story, but for those who are not, here is a little info. Charlie was born at 28 weeks, weighing just 1 pound 2 ounces (520g), and spent 138 days in the hospital with hard ups and downs for both parents (made harder by COVID), not knowing day to day what kind of day they, or Charlie, would have. This was the hardest time for my brother and sister-in-law, along with our niece. It was an emotional time for all the family, with everyone pulling together no matter the circumstances or time of day. After 5 months in the neonatal unit, Charlie was allowed to go home to his family with a constant oxygen supply and a feeding tube. Over time, Charlie grew stronger and stronger, always with a smile on his face. He came off the feeding tube, and his oxygen was slowly reduced a little at a time until his lungs got strong enough to breathe on his own.

Charlie will soon be celebrating his 3rd birthday and is the happiest little boy we know. He has never stopped smiling throughout all the hospital visits, continued check-ups, and continues to surprise us all on a daily basis with his progress and development.

As a small thanks to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital, Victoria and I have decided to take part in this year's Tough Mudder competition with hopes of raising some money for the charity associated with the Glasgow Children’s Hospital.

Tough Mudder is an endurance event series where participants tackle a military-style obstacle course designed to test physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. These events involve a 10 to 12-mile run and include around 20 obstacles that challenge participants to climb, crawl, lift, and wade through different terrains and conditions, such as mud and water. Challenges include scaling high walls, climbing out of pits, and dealing with electric shocks!

We have been training and are aiming to complete every event and obstacle in our way. Any donations to this cause would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jonny and Victoria

Nb. All donations will be going towards the charity.
