Story
When I was 21, my world changed in an instant. I lost my dad suddenly to a cardiac arrest. There was no warning, no chance to say goodbye — just the unbearable shock of losing someone you thought would always be there. The grief that followed was overwhelming. At an age where life is meant to be opening up, I was faced with something I never expected: learning how to live without my dad.
Grief can be an incredibly lonely place — especially when you’re young and feel like no one around you understands what you’re going through. That’s why I’m raising money for It’s Time, a charity that exists to make the world a better place for young adults who’ve experienced the loss of a parent or parental figure. Their work is all about community, conversation, and compassion. They don’t just offer sympathy — they offer real, ongoing support. Through peer-led groups, therapeutic spaces, events, book clubs, and a growing online community, It’s Time brings together people who truly get it. They provide a space where grief can be shared and not silenced, where people can speak freely about loss and feel less alone in their pain.
What I love most about It’s Time is that they’re not just about coping — they’re about connection, healing, and helping people move forward without forgetting the ones they’ve lost. They’ve created something powerful: a supportive network that holds space for honest conversations and encourages young adults to find hope again, even in the hardest moments.
I wish I had something like this when I lost my dad. That’s why this fundraiser means so much to me. I want to honour his memory in a way that gives something back — something that could make even one person feel a little less alone in their grief. By donating, you’re helping It’s Time reach more young people who are trying to piece their lives back together after loss. You’re helping build a community that understands, that listens, and that walks alongside people in their darkest times.
Every contribution — no matter the amount — helps support this life-changing work. Whether you’ve experienced loss yourself or simply want to help others who are grieving, your support truly makes a difference. Thank you for standing with me, for honouring my dad, and for helping others find light after loss.
