Story
The Christmas Hamper Project is one of our annual flagship fundraising initiatives created for the purposes of supporting hundreds of the most economically vulnerable families in our local community throughout the Royal Borough of Greenwich. For the most economically vulnerable families, December invites feelings of dread and anxiety as they think of ways to prepare to ensure their families not only stay warm, but stay fed in the coming winter months.
I am doing a collective fundraising with others to raise £4,000. My personal contribution to this would be to raise a minimum of £1,000.
With many families within our own boroughs and across the UK having to choose between paying for the heating or eating, Christian Life Fellowship (CLF) Greenwich (registered as City Faith Ministries Trust with the Charity Commission) and Thamesmead Christian Fellowship (TCF) work hard to ensure this is one less heartbreaking decision they’d have to make.
We want to be a part of the solution by distributing hampers this Christmas to those experiencing poverty and destitution in the borough of Greenwich, where about a quarter of families live below 60% of the median household income (London’s Poverty Profile, 2022).
