Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Jack & Tom's JustGiving page.
Jack and Tom are raising money for the Jengana Association https://jengana.com/.
Jengana was started by their teacher, Fransuer Mukula and his wife Rachel. Fransuer's upbringing was challenging, he lived through a period of time as a street child and there was regularly a lack of money for food and education. He is thankful that through the help of individuals who saw signs of potential and were willing to respond to his practical needs, he was able to progress through his education and escape the cycle of poverty that seemed inevitable.
Fransuer always had a desire to ‘give back’, to help children and individuals who are stuck due to their circumstances.
In July 2023, the boys are travelling to Kenya with a team of people from Northern Ireland to further the aims of Jengana which are:
1. To develop the Centre of Hope on the 6 acre Jengana site near Kamangu, a Kikuyu area approximately 20 miles from Nairobi city. This includes the Kipepeo Home for vulnerable children.
2. To partner with existing projects in Kibera and Mukuru slum areas, mostly through education support and a feeding programme.
The boys' journey to Kenya is approximately 10,000km. On 29 March, they will both run 10 kilometres (0.1% of their journey) before 10pm!
