120 Mile Ultra-Marathon · 2 May 2025

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

On the 2nd of May 2025 I will be running a 120 MILE ULTRA-MARATHON starting at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey and finishing at Loughborough University.

Last year the support from the marathon was overwhelming and had a huge impact on the lives of young people with cancer, however there is still so much work to do. Let’s see if we can beat last years fundraising total of £5680.00…

To make this challenge a success I need YOUR support.

I need YOU to share this campaign with family, friends, colleagues, gym buddies, acquitances, the bloke from the pub and your great aunt.

The mission is simple. To keep putting my body through these tough challenges until no young person has to go through cancer alone. I’ll run till I can’t run anymore.

The plan is simple. 120 Miles worth of running, starting from the hospital where I was treated in Surrey and finishing where I’m currently studying in Loughborough.

I’m running for everyone currently battling cancer, anyone who has ever faced cancer, those we’ve lost because of cancer, and to those friends and family who suffer alongside their loved ones.

For those who didn’t see the campaign last year, here’s a little bit about my WHY…

At 16 years old I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer, thanks to the support of Teenage Cancer Trust alongside the Royal Marsden Hospital I was cleared 18 months later. Teenage Cancer Trust funds 28 units in NHS Hospitals specially designed for young people facing cancer to help them receive the very best care from dedicated nurses and youth support teams.

These challengs are my opportunity to give back to the charity that gave me and so many others so much during the most difficult period of my life. I can assure you firsthand that your donations go a long way in supporting young adults facing the most difficult of battles.

During my Chemotherapy, I had many complications leading to blood clots and pneumonia in my lungs. Doctors told me they would be surprised if I was ever able to compete properly in sport ever again… something that broke my heart to hear as a 16-year-old sports lover. To be sat here as a Semi-Professional rugby player, a marathon runner, and a Loughborough University rugby player fills me with immense pride and reinforces the biggest lesson I have learnt in life and the mantra I live by every day…

Don’t let anyone but you define your limits.

A huge thank you in advance to everyone who donates, shares, tells a friend or joins me on this crazy challenge.

Thank you.

JB
