Story

Ollie Saunders

As a team we were privileged to work with Ollie Saunders, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2022. Ollie endured 3 craniotomies, which he had to be awake for (and smashed playing the guitar throughout), 33 days of radiotherapy and 12 cycles of chemotherapy, with little to no respite between each treatment.

Sadly despite his positive outlook and the strength with which Ollie faced this illness, he passed away on Saturday the 28th of September aged just 29.

Ollie was a joy and pleasure to work with, he had a great sense of humour, was chatty and it seemed could make friends with anyone he spoke to.

The loss has been profound to our small team. We are undertaking a "marathon walk" of 26.2 miles in his name, starting at our office in Kingswood, Surrey, coming past our offices in London and ending at Arsenal Emirates stadium (Ollies favourite team) on the 7th February 2025.

At the request of his family we are raising funds in Ollies name for Brain Tumour Research.

Brain Tumour Research

Brain Tumour Research (BTR) is the only national charity in the UK focussed on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35M per year. BTR funds centres in the UK that undertake a range of research to understand more about brain tumours and work towards finding a cure.

Each centre costs £1M annually to sustain the research or £2,740 a day.

Key statistics:

• Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age

• Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer

• One in three people know someone affected by a brain tumour

• In the UK, 16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour

• Just 12% of those diagnosed with a brain tumour survive beyond five years compared with an average of 54% across all cancers

• At the current rate of spending, it could take 100 years for brain tumours to catch up with developments in other diseases and find a cure

Please support us as we look to raise funds to support this charity and most importantly honour Ollies memory. Fidelity as an organisation will support with matching donations made up to $15,000.
