Story
Join us on our epic journey in Memory of two great Men.
Paul, Aaron, Tom and Jack are cycling from Norwich, in Norfolk, back to their family home in Kent. As keen cyclists the father, and son trio wanted to challenge themselves to honour and commemorate their Father's and Grandfathers who are no longer with us after battling Cancer. The adventure will cover 170 miles over two days, starting in Norwich where Paul's father Bill was from, returning to Kent where Aaron, Tom and Jack's other grandad Mick lived, and their family homes.
William Davey (Bill) and Michael Wheaton (Mick) were both very active young men, and avid supporters of all things sport in their later years. Bill was a football referee, but would also be fond of supporting any of his children in their sporting endeavours. and Mick was a regular swimmer as well as being a huge fan of cycling events such as the Tour De France which he would watch for hours on TV. Both men also travelled a lot through their professions and serving in the Police and Military. so what better way to commemorate them than with a challenge combining sport and travel in the form of a long distance cycle.
The ride will take place from the 23rd of July, and will be in aid of and supported by Kent Cancer Trust. Over the course of 170 miles the team will visit some special places that are close to their hearts as well as passing through Paul's birth town of Billericay.
