Jack's Trike Challenge

No parent expects to live longer than their child, but for many of the families we support, this is a reality. Julia's House, the Dorset & Wiltshire Children's Hospice charity provides frequent respite care for children and support for their families at home, in the community and at our hospice.

Story

Jack is a 10 year old little boy with Cerebral Palsy and life threatening seizures. Jack and his family receive support from Julia's House. Jack receives 200 hours care from the nurses and carers, either during sessions at the hospice or within the home. Our aim is to match their hours and raise £200 to show our appreciation.

Jack is aiming to cycle his trike to school and back from now until the Summer holidays, to raise money, while increasing his fitness and well being. The regular exercise of cycling will improve his leg strength, as he faces orthopedic leg surgery in the future. Jack normally uses the school transport to get to school and back, so this will be a particularly physical challenge for Jack, who uses a wheelchair, due to cerebral palsy.

Jack recently received the trike from Tomcat, after a successful funding application to Action For Kids and Caudwell Children.

Amazingly, Julia’s House has to raise 93 per cent of the money it needs each year to run this vital service which is why I have chosen to support them. Your kind sponsorship will make a life-changing difference to these families.
