I am running the Adidas Manchester Marathon, raising money for the Alzheimer's Society!

Following the success of the fundraiser we did last year for the DRRT & Alzheimer's Society by running the Robin Hood Half Marathon, and the heartbreaking loss of my Grandad (Barry) late last year, I have decided to run the Manchester Marathon in his memory.

My Grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018 and battled the disease for six years before sadly passing away in November 2024.

Speaking at his funeral, I promised to continue making him proud and raise money through my running in memory of the truly great man he was.

Five months—and torn ankle ligaments—later, I find myself deep into a marathon training block. So far this year, I have run over 400km. I have faced serious challenges, injuries, and outright fatigue at times, but reminding myself of what I am doing this for has massively spurred me on to push through and get the runs done!

I hope the same spirit will encourage all of you to donate as much as you can spare for an incredible cause—the Alzheimer's Society—who continue to do amazing work to fight the horrible disease that my Grandad suffered from. No donation is too small, and Grandad would be so grateful to anyone who supports this cause.
