Story
Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2017 I lost my brother to suicide, he was 23 and had struggled with psychosis and his mental health for a number of years.
In 2026 my friends and I are running the Bristol half marathon to fundraise for Hope Against Suicide, a registered charity based in Bristol. The current team is:
Jack McGhee, Molly Bradley, Zoe Ford, Anna Deere, Gavin Pownall, Anne Carrett, Alex Phelps, Zoe Bradley, Will Pritchard
The money will go towards their work, which includes operating a mental health hub in central Bristol. They have volunteers walking the streets of Bristol, to provide face-to-face support and immediate, compassionate interactions for those struggling with mental health.
£1,560 is the target, as this is the amount it costs to train three volunteers to go out and do this great work. We smashed the previous two targets so I've upped it again :).
Suicide is the single leading cause of death for men under 50 and mental health is a significant contributing factor to this. You can read more here: https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/london-assembly-press-releases/suicide-single-leading-cause-death-men-under-50
