Marathon for the Badger Trust

Marathon · 14 June 2024
I’m running a solo marathon in Leicestershire for the Badger Trust on Friday 14th June. The Badger Trust are a wildlife conservation and protection charity in England & Wales, and this run is to raise funds for them as well as awareness for badgers and the threats they face.
Badgers are an iconic species amongst British wildlife and we have a rich connection to them; they are the logo for the Wildlife Trusts and they have been amongst the main characters of famous stories like ‘The Wind in the Willows’.
Many people do care for & protect badgers, but they are also unfortunately threatened. Tens of thousands are killed on the roads each year, many are forced from their homes by development, and the Tory government’s licensed badger cull has seen over 230,000 killed in England since 2013.
The Badger Trust are constantly working to improve the situation for badgers across all these areas and more, such as their ‘End the Cull’ campaign, as well as bringing together local badger groups across England & Wales. The money raised through this run will help them to continue to do so, and any donations are gratefully received. Please share with your family & friends.
Thank you!
10th-16th June is a national week of action for badgers and your nearest badger group may have events you can take part in. To find out more about the Badger Trust and Leicestershire & Rutland Badger Group (my local group) please visit their websites:
