We provide specialist nurses to support families affected by dementia

Story

My name is Jack Saunders, a 24 year old singer/songwriter from Yeovil.

I lost my granddad to dementia in 2019, I looked on as the person I knew as granddad slowly faded away.

After the funeral I found myself thinking about all the memories he had given me and found it strange that once a person passes away, and after a few weeks of mourning, and being expected to just carry on, leaving the memories to fade and all but forgotten.

This is when I decided to write Meet At the Light, not only to retain those memories, (“Rocket man, the stories you told” which is about a phone conversation we had when I was little, he told me  to look out the window so I could see him fly over my house). But also to tell the world that we have lost a truly wonderful person.

Although I released this single in 2020, I always felt something was missing and always dreamt of having a choir backing me and making a video within a church setting. I was given this exact opportunity when Trudy and Frazer Baddams from Antix Music Network, the Weymouth Park Community Choir, mainly over 70’s whose lives have been touched with dementia, arranged a video shoot at the Weymouth Baptist church, achieving my long term plan. The song was re-recorded with the choir and was released as part of my debut album “Chapters” on June 30th. But the song will now be released as a charity single raising awareness of this awful disease and raising funds for dementia charities.

I ask that you do what you can to help promote what we are trying to achieve.

Many thanks from Jack, Antix & The Weymouth Park Community Choir
