Story
London Marathon 2026 – Supporting The Lily Foundation
Every other day in the UK, a baby is born who may develop a serious mitochondrial disease.
Mitochondrial disease is a rare, inherited condition that can affect multiple organs and significantly impact quality of life. There is currently no cure.
The Lily Foundation was established in 2007 by Liz Curtis in memory of her daughter Lily, who died from mitochondrial disease at eight months old. The charity was created in response to the lack of information, support and research available at the time. Today, it provides support to affected families, raises awareness of mitochondrial disease, and funds research into treatments and the search for a cure.
This is a cause that is close to me and my family, which is why I am running the London Marathon in 2026 in support of The Lily Foundation.
Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Your support will help fund research and ensure that families affected by mitochondrial disease receive the information and support they need.
Thank you for your support.
