Story
I’m running the London Marathon 2026 to raise vital funds for Leukaemia UK so they’re able to continue support and research into treatments for the disease.
In 2024 Dad was unexpectedly diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). Our family was suddenly more concerned with blood test results, learning new terminology and how effective treatment could be for my Dad. In the most challenging of times Leukaemia UK was there for us and able to provide important information that supported us and allowed us to better support Dad. They also provided an online forum to talk about his diagnosis with others who were also living with Leukaemia and most importantly made him not feel alone. They provided our family with a life line when we needed it the most.
Leukaemia UK provide support for families with a diagnosis, but also conduct world class research into new forms of treatment and prevention. There’s been lots of progress in recent months into new life saving treatments that have only been possible through research funded by donations.
I’m running the London Marathon to say thank you to Leukaemia UK for all of their support and to help raise vital funds into for the research so that better treatment can help people like my Dad whist he continues in his journey to remission. I'm running for every family who will receive their support after a loved one has been given a diagnosis and to help fund key research into a cure.
Thank you,
Jack
