Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

I'm running the London Marathon in honor of my Granny, Mary Elizabeth Hawksford, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's early last year.

She's the sweetest and most kindhearted soul you'll ever meet, always putting others' needs ahead of hers. Unlike my fellow teammates at DOAC, who are running in memory of late family members my Granny is still with us, powering on every day. However, there are noticeable signs of deterioration each time I see her, fuelling my determination to make a difference in any way I can.

As I'm in the middle of my training for the London Marathon, it's not only my Granny who inspires and keeps me going but also the 55 million people worldwide grappling with Alzheimer's. Every 3.2 seconds, someone is diagnosed with this disease, and I'm committed to playing my part in the race against time to bring that number down.

Your donations, no matter the amount, are welcomed and greatly appreciated. The funds will contribute to a great cause, significantly impacting the advancement of Alzheimer's research.

I'll be spurred on not only by the thought of my Granny cheering me on but also by your incredibly generous donations. Thank you for your support, and I hope to see some of your lovely faces on the day!
