Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi everyone, on the 20th April I am going to be running a self-designed 'ultra marathon' in which I will be running 26.2 miles, the standard marathon distance, however just within the first 13 miles of my run I will climb over 850 feet reaching an altitude of over 1,200 feet. To put into perspective the London Marathon over this period averages at 60 feet elevation.

This is all to raise money for the JackTheLad Foundation in memory of Jack Howe who died in a quad bike accident in Zante, Greece, on 21 June 2019.

Jack was known to be a cheeky, lovable, handsome boy who had a huge group of friends. He was a talented sportsman excelling in both rugby and football and held his family very close to him, his wonderful twin, Lucy, his big sister, Hannah as well as his parents, Steph and Tony.

Jack was out on his first lads holiday and on the fifth day himself and his friends rented quadbikes where only one driving licence was requested for a group, adding to this they were advised not to wear helmets as it would result in poor vision due to sweat.

On Midsummer's Day, 21st June 2019, just two days before Jack was set to return home he lost control of his quad bike and was tragically taken from his family and friends.

After this, Jack's amazing family and friends started the JackTheLad Foundation which will help provide advancement of health and saving of lives of young people by raising awareness of the risks of traveling abroad, such as poor health and safety and irresponsible practices.

This foundation will also help with the relief of financial hardship of the next of kin of young people who have died whilst on holiday by assisting with the repatriation of the young person.

Although I did not know Jack personally I know he touched a lot of my close friends hearts so I want to do this challenge to raise money for such an important cause.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small and let's smash this target together.

Jack x
