Our Story
My friend Kyle and I are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause that means the world to me. This isn’t just a physical challenge for us; it’s a personal journey to honour my dad, who has been battling Alzheimer’s for years, and to do something positive in the face of something so painful.
Watching my dad deteriorate with this disease has been heartbreaking. He spent 22 years proudly serving in the Army, dedicating his life to hard work, discipline, and service. After leaving the forces, he continued to work tirelessly. From long days on the road in driving jobs to always putting his family first. He never got the chance to truly enjoy his retirement with our mum, a time they had both earned and looked forward to. Alzheimer’s cruelly robbed him, and us, of those years together.
This experience has changed my life in so many ways. It’s difficult to watch someone you love slowly slip away, and yet it’s also made me more determined than ever to make a difference. Joining the gym and preparing for the Three Peaks Challenge has been a huge step for both Kyle and me not just physically, but mentally too. Training has become a way to channel my emotions, to fight back, and to take control of something when so much feels out of our hands. It’s been tough, but every step feels like progress for our health, our strength, and for my Dad.
We’re doing this to raise awareness, to support other families living through the same heartbreak, and to contribute to the incredible work the Alzheimer’s Society does funding crucial research, resources, and care.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to a future where families like ours won’t have to watch their loved ones fade away. Please support us whether by donating or by sharing our fundraiser and help us climb not just these mountains, but the mountains faced every day by those living with Alzheimers
