Story
Jess & I have signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 12th. Once we decided we were going to run we looked through the long list of charities to raise money in aide of and came across the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. A charity we were not aware of previously and assumed it was something to do with child literacy considering his brilliant books which our oldest daughter loves reading and has started collecting every time she sees a new one in a charity shop.
Upon looking into the charity further we found that Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity provides specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children. There are currently over 200 Roald Dahl Nurses caring for over 40,000 seriously ill children across the UK.
Roald Dahl Nurses work in NHS Trusts and Health Boards across the UK, supporting children and young people affected by complex, lifelong conditions. Roald Dahl Nurses also support children as they transition from child to adult healthcare services.
The dedication and expertise of Roald Dahl Nurses reduces A&E visits, hospital admissions, and consultant appointments. They are a vital life-line to the whole family, coordinating care, and providing access to high quality emotional support.
Roald Dahl Nurses are highly trained, senior professionals who can ‘make things happen’ both in the hospital and the wider community setting such as with schools or GPs.
Please help us in raising money for such a brilliant and worthy cause!
