Story
At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
As some of you know my dad, Roger, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s…also has Dementia. To watch dad with this condition is heartbreaking, those who know him know that he has been active all his life, played rugby all his life, went swimming, solved puzzles, ran the London marathon, loved a cigar with his pint of Guinness. Our dad is still in there somewhere, still enjoys a bet on the horses and the odd jigsaw puzzle. This cruel disease not only takes our dad, grandad and mums husband of 54 years away, but it takes his independence and all the memories of a full and active life.
This is why I have chosen to raise money for Alzheimer’s society by walking 1084 miles with the dogs (counting the miles I cover in work won’t be counted!) over the course of the next few months. The equivalent of walking from Lands End to John O’Groats.
