Story
As a breast cancer survivor and as Action Cancer is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, I thought with the help of my daughter, her chums and my chums, we would raise some much needed funds for this charity, which has been saving lives and supporting people affected by cancer in Northern Ireland for half a century.
Each year they provide 8,000 breast screening appointments to ladies aged 40 - 49 and 70+ from their clinic in Belfast and on board their Big Bus which travels to over 200 locations.
For every 1,000 appointments 6 women have their cancer detected when it may otherwise have gone unnoticed. I was one of these women. I turned 50 last year but had I not gone to Action Cancer I would not have seen my 50th birthday.
This service is free to the user but each appointment costs Action Cancer £120.
Action Cancer receive no regular support from the government, so they rely on fundraising from events like this.
Please help me, my daughter, her chums and my BFF's Joyce, Sara and Hazel raise some money to help save the lives of other mum's, grandmother's, sister's, aunties, daughters and friends.
I know everyone is finding it difficult at the moment but if you can spare just a little bit it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you 😊
