Story
“Cancer is what we have, not who we are!”
I understand personally how living with (and thankfully recovering from) a cancer diagnosis can absolutely knock you and your self-confidence for six. It undermines everything you believed was just and fair in life. Odyssey, a national registered charity with no statutory funding, is celebrating its 30th Birthday! Born in 1994 by an oncologist and friends, through various fundraising initiatives, provides a 5-day residential course aimed at combatting the psychological and emotional devastation caused by the illness. It draws on the outdoor environment, the arts, the stimulation of challenge, uncertainty and surprise to help adult cancer sufferers overcome the emotional and physical devastation caused by their illness.
I am privileged (if not somewhat apprehensive!), to become part of a team taking on the challenge of an epic Sahara Desert trek in Morocco, covering 100km in 5 days! No running water, no hairdryers, no coffee machine - my worst nightmare!
Odyssey has been transforming lives for 30 years, and I’d like to help secure their fabulous impact for the next 30. Please support me in the challenge to raise funds for Odyssey in their 30th Year. This will help people with cancer overcome the psychological impact of their illness by rebuilding their shattered spirits and restoring their zest for life.❤️ For a more in-depth understanding of how and why Odyssey is such an incredibly valuable charity, and so worthy of your amazing support, please visit their website www.odyssey.org.uk. As I found out, one day it might be you?!
