Story

Myself and two of my best friends Jackie and Kara have signed up to do the Great Glencoe Challenge on the 6th of July in memory of my Dad Steve. We will be raising money for the charity James Support Group who offer support to anyone bereaved by suicide alongside support to those with suicidal thoughts and mental health issues.

The Great Glencoe Challenge is a 26.2 mile trekathon across the heart of Glencoe to the foot of Ben Nevis!

The James Support Group is a registered charity formed by the family of James who sadly took his own life. The rates of suicide in the Scottish highlands is high and rising and there is a significant lack of support available to those bereaved by suicide and mental health support. Therefore they took it upon themselves to make a change to help others who were also in need. They have attended various training events and work closely with other groups and organisations.

Since becoming a registered charity in October 2020, they were able to expand their support service to cover The Scottish Highlands, where they provide monthly support groups, break out personal sessions as required, a 24/7 Helpline and various other support events.
