Rabbits are the most neglected companion animal in the UK. Despite being one of the country’s most popular pets, they remain one of the most misunderstood. Many are bought on impulse, kept in unsuitable housing, denied appropriate veterinary care, or abandoned when their needs become too much.

Unlike cats and dogs, not many rescues choose to take in rabbits. As exotic animals, they require specialist veterinary care, making them significantly more expensive to care for. Because of this financial burden, many rescues simply don’t have the facilities or resources to help them, leaving countless rabbits with nowhere to go.

While many cats find homes relatively quickly, rabbits often spend months or even years in rescue waiting for the right home. We want to make sure that while they’re with us, they have the very best quality of life possible.

That’s why we’re launching our biggest rabbit project yet.

We’re raising £13,000 to build a brand new indoor rabbit unit that will transform rabbit welfare at Jackson’s Animal Rescue.

We’ve chosen a company who are passionate rabbit welfare advocates, supplying accommodation designed to meet Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF) recommendations. Every rabbit will have its own spacious pen with additional enrichment, creating a comfortable, stimulating environment where they can express natural behaviours while they wait for their forever home.

The new rabbit unit will:

🏡 Provide larger, purpose-built accommodation for rabbits who stay with us for months or even years.

🌿 Offer additional enrichment in every pen to improve physical and mental wellbeing.

❤️ Give every rabbit the standard of care and housing they deserve while they wait for a second chance.
