Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This summer, a small group of slightly intrepid cyclists will embark on revisiting the most challenging leg of the Boniface bike rides, from Hook van Holland to Fulda in Germany. It was on this same journey in 2012 we heard the immortal line from our landlord, "If you go to Winterberg you will die," referring to the need to cycle over a mountain to get to the next town on our journey. Our journey will culminate at the cathedral in Fulda where St Boniface was laid to rest.
St Boniface is the patron saint of Germany, who notably trained at the site of our local St Boniface church in Nursling, Hampshire. Inspired by St Boniface's desire to share the Christian message, we are cycling the 550 km ride raising funds for the Church Missionary Society (CMS), who like St Boniface, are dedicated to bringing the wonderful message of God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ to those who have yet to hear it.
CMS has had and continues to have a vital role in the world. For over 220 years, since its founding in Aldersgate Street, London, on April 12, 1799, CMS has been at the forefront of mission. Its early supporters included influential figures who championed social justice and ventured overseas to share the Gospel. Just as St Boniface fearlessly carried the Good News of Jesus Christ across Europe, CMS has a strong tradition of pioneering mission work that reaches those who are unreached and adapts Gospel expressions to new situations and cultures both at home and abroad.
The need for the hope that God gives remains as critical as ever, and CMS possesses extensive experience and capability to effectively share it. We invite you to sponsor us as you are able; your support will help us up that mountain 😊.
Our target amount is £1,000 GBP; every contribution counts towards making a difference!
