Story
In April 2027, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for my dad and every stroke survivor.
In July 2018 life as we knew it changed beyond recognition. When my dad had his strokes (aged 39) we were blindsided. Before his strokes, he was a Met Police officer (a traffic rat) and spent his life driving cars and motorbikes fast. Unfortunately he is now unable to drive for more than about 10 minutes, and so he had to medically retire from a career he loved. Subsequently he was diagnosed with severe post stroke fatigue (similar to ME) and can no longer work for more than a few hours a week. 8 years on, and life can be difficult for him, and us as a family. Different Strokes have supported our family throughout the last 8 years, and as a small charity fundraising is key.
Please support me in my challenge and help me to raise as much money as we can for this cause close to my heart - Thank you!
About the Charity:
Every year approximately 100,000 people will have a stroke in the UK and a quarter of these will happen to people of working age or younger and it is the single biggest cause of disability. Different Strokes is the only charity dedicated to younger stroke survivors to provide active peer support through information, advice and rehabilitation services.
