Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

All of my life, I've been a swimmer and, after competing in triathlon over the last couple of years, I want to lean into my strengths and join the small (and slightly crazy) group of people who can say that they've swam the British channel. It's a really scary thought but a very exciting one.

When I was 16, a close friend of mine suffered a life-changing spinal injury, so I know the difference that support from charities like Aspire make to a person's recovery. It's a great cause and supporting it makes lots of sense, when combined it with something that I love to do (swim).

I'm a videographer/photographer by trade and, in exchange for your donations, I promise to keep you updated on my training progress/thoughts or feelings with regular content updates. First video at the top of this page!

Thank-you for reading and for donating. Wish me luck!
