Story
This year, I’ll be running 70 miles (113km) along Hadrian’s Wall — from Carlisle to Gateshead - coast to coast.
A route my great-grandfather, Charles Anderson, was very familiar with.
He dedicated decades of his life to the conservation and consolidation of the wall from 1936 to 1974. Walking the stones, and helping preserve a piece of history that has stood for nearly two thousand years.
Where he spent years walking, re-building, and protecting the Wall, I’ll spend a single, exhausting day running its length.
I'll be dedicating the run to Durham Wildlife Trust, who restore wildlife and protect our English countryside from Tees to Tyne.
A healthy natural environment is so intrinsically important for people and society.
All of the money raised for Durham Wildlife Trust funds local nature reserves and restoration projects. They are a fantastic small charity who have a big impact.
