Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 10th of March 2024, I experienced a stroke that left the left side of my body paralysed. I spent eight days in ICU, during which my loved ones were uncertain if I would pull through. Afterward, I was transferred to the stroke ward, where I faced additional challenges, including a battle with Norovirus. My journey continued for three months in the stroke ward, primarily focused on physiotherapy to regain strength and mobility before being sent to a rehabilitation centre.

I am incredibly grateful for the dedication and professionalism of the staff at Larbert Hospital's NHS stroke healthcare team. The nursing staff provided exceptional care during my recovery from both the stroke and Norovirus. Additionally, I cannot forget the amazing team at the Wallace Suite. Bellfield Rehabilitation Centre who prepared me for returning home.

Today, I am raising funds for Forth Valley Giving to support the NHS rehabilitation Bellfield Centre at Wallace Suite. There is a room that has been designated by occupational therapists and physiotherapists to be transformed into a kitchen space. This kitchen will be vital for working with patients preparing for discharge back into their communities. Having this facility will greatly enhance their rehabilitation experience as they transition back home.

As a stroke survivor, I deeply appreciate all that has been done for me by the staff at Wallace Suite. To contribute towards this cause, I have set myself a challenge: to walk up the Wallace Monument stairs this September. While still undergoing rehabilitation myself, I aim to do as much as my body allows.

I hope to raise £10,000 for this important refurbishment project at Bellfield Centre in Stirling. Your support can make a significant difference in helping others like me regain their independence and confidence as they return home. The one's that are in most need is the one's that live alone. This kitchen would be another step forward of getting back to independent living as much as possible..

When I was discharged in June 5th-2024 NHS in Bellfield has a program START- (STROKE-TRANSITION and REHABILITATION - THERAPHY) start teams and Reach teams helps physio's do transition on home visits for a few weeks to get us resettled back home and continue to move on with our physio I've been in this program since August last year. I'm now a little more independent that on the 5th June when I was first discharged.

Thanks to the Wallace Suit and all their staff for giving me this life line. Any funding is always going to help give these patients at the Wallace Suit. a lifeline to get home and live independently as much as possible.

Below are some videos of my own journey in my recovery process which is still an on going journey thanks to the support of the Bellfield Rehabilitation Centre.

You can see the stroke weaken all down my left side.
