Jacque's LONDON Marathon fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am thrilled for the opportunity to fundrace for Breast Cancer Now. Did you know that 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer? At 34 weeks pregnant I found a lump in my breast. I have always been very proactive about early detection and screening- my grandmother died of Breast Cancer, so I know it runs in my family-
Due to my pregnancy I had to push back my yearly screening and then found a lump. To be honest I didn't say anything at first. I told myself I pulled a muscle from picking up my son or doing a chest workout- when it didn't go away, I mentioned it to my doctor. We planned to have it looked at right after the baby was born. So 8 days postpartum I was scheduling a mammogram and ultrasound. Scheduling a mammogram postpartum proved difficult as I was told that they don't typically do screenings on women who are breastfeeding- one center told me they had to wait 6 moths to schedule me! My doctor stepped in and 13 days postpartum my mammogram and ultrasound showed that the 4cm mass was solid and looked "suspicious".
I cried. I looked at my almost 4 year old and my 13 day old infant and felt terrified for them... and for myself.
At 18 days postpartum I had a biopsy done on the outer upper quadrant of my left breast- leaving me quite swollen and sore while I continue to breastfeed at the approval of my doctors.
22 days postpartum I was given the results. Benign. The wave of relief and tears of joy overcame me. I am one of the lucky ones... Thankfully, I am not personally fighting breast cancer, but I am JOINING the FIGHT... and I hope you will join me.
At 26 days postpartum I was invited to run the London Marathon, on April 21, 2024 for Breast Cancer Now. Please consider supporting my fundraising efforts to raise funds, awareness and education about early detection and prevention.
